Provenance |
Manufactured by Folmer Graflex Corp. in the United States. Dates unknown. Item was kept with a camera that belonged to Victor Nelson Miller, a machinist who owned Miller's Garage on RR#4, Owen Sound, Grey County. He became a photographer in the Owen Sound, Grey County area. A letter received in August of 2006 from the item's last owner, Victor Pettigrew of Owen Sound, Grey County, reads: "My grandfather was Victor Nelson Miller who originated "Miller's Garage" in 1916. What started out as a hobby grew into more than he wanted in the photography work. He did all the work for Black Clawson-Kennedy (Kennedy's) numerous propeller pictures, photography for the police (crime scenes, accidents, etc.), drug stores, and for the old law firm MacAvoy, Craig & McKerroll. My father was able to run the garage and left him to his hobby. He learned photography from Eastman-Kodak (Rochester, New York) when he was 14 years old." |
