Provenance |
Manufactured by Bell & Erwin. Salvaged from the Banks United Church building. The community of Banks, in Collingwood Township, Grey County, had a Knox Presbyterian Church that began in 1870. In 1904, a new red brick church building was constructed at Lot 17, Concession 4, Collingwood Township. The door knob was located on the door between the narthex and the Sanctuary. The building was situated along the east side of the 4th Concession, between Sideroads 16 & 16 and 18 & 19. The church closed in June, 1970. The building was torn down in 1977. Mary Alma McKinlay (nee James) was a member of the Ladies' Aid at the church in 1931+, and someone in the McKinlay family saved the set. Last owned by M. Elizabeth McKinlay. |
