Rev. Howey was descended from William Howey, who came from Ireland in 1844-1845, and settled at Massie, in Holland Township, Grey County. The Howeys were Methodist, and pro-Temperance. Rev. Howey lived at Owen Sound, Grey County, circa 1969. Reverend Howey's great-grandfather, Henry Silverlock, was a weaver in Britain, who was given a spool of gold thread that was left over from the weaving of Queen Victoria's Coronation robe (1837). |
