Victor Nelson Miller started a business called "Miller's Garage" in 1916. It was located at _________. In 2006, the company name was "Miller's Garage (Owen Sound) Limited", and it was situated at RR#4 Owen Sound. In the 1921 census, he was at _____________. He passed away at the age of 84 in 1972, and is buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound. There is also a burial there for James Victor Miler (b. 1876-d. 1951, age 75). Letter received August, 2006 from Victor Pettigrew: "My grandfather was Victor Nelson Miller , who originated "Miller's Garage" in 1916. What started out as a hobby grew into more than he wanted in the photography work. He did all the work for Black Clawson-Kennedy (Kennedy's) numerous propeller pictures, photography for the police (crime scenes, accidents, etc.), drug stores, and for the old law firm MacAvoy, Craig & McKerroll. My father was able to run the garage and left him to his hobby. Many pictures on tin plates etc. were brought to life for Melba Croft. He taught a lot of the locals the photography business. He learned photography from the Eastman-Kodak Co. (Rochester, New York) when he was 14 years old." |
