H. R. Moffat enjoyed curling and was a member of the Owen Sound Greys curling team. The Owen Sound Greys won a trophy from the Duke of Devonshire in 1921 and H. R. Moffat's name was engraved on it as one of the co-winners. He was considered a prominent man in Owen Sound in the 1920s-1930s, and an artistic sketch was made of him, which he signed. It is at the Grey County Archives (see PF141S2). More research is needed to see if he was one of the three men who operated the OWEN SOUND ADVERTISER in the 1912-1923 time period (D. R. Dobie, H. P. Smithson, Mr. Findlay and a H. R. Moffatt (sic). |
