Jacob Ruppenthal was born in Germany. He was married to Elizabetha Schwab. Elizabetha was born in Germany April 12, 1842, and emigrated in 1856. In the 1891 census of Normanby Twp., Grey County, Jacob was 64 years old, Elizabetha was 49, and their children were Caroline (age 17), Jacob (age 15), Elizabeth (age 12), Christina (age 10), and George Ruppenthal (age 7). Elizabetha is pictured in a convex oval-framed photograph, that is now at Grey Roots Museum & Archives. Her death record stated that she had lived for 67 years in Ontario. She died March 22, 1923 in Grey County, age 81. She was a Widow, and her death was reported by her son, Jacob Ruppenthal, of RR#2, Ceylon, Ont. When she died, she was residing at Lot 9, Concession 7, of Normanby Twp. Their daughter Caroline Ruppenthal married John Miller of Normanby Twp. They had several children. Two of the children were twins (Noah P. Miller b. 1902-d. 1976 and Aaron Miller b. 1902-d. 1978). The twins are buried at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Normanby Twp. |
