Description |
Thornbury Continuation School ring. The silver ring has dark blue and yellow enamelling, "T" flanked with "C" and "S", on the pointed bottom. The school's Latin motto VINCIT QUI PATITUR is at the front on a scroll, above an open book motif. The interior of the ring is stamped with BIRKS-ELLIS / STERLING. |

Custom-made in Toronto for the Thornbury Continuation School in Collingwood Township, Grey County. It belonged to Bessie J. McKinlay (b. 1924-d. 2005). Bessie was raised at "Silver Springs Farm" (Lot 13, Concession 6, Collingwood Township). She attended the Continuation School from 19__ to 19__. In 1939, the school name changed to Thornbury High School. Last owned by Bessie's niece, M. Elizabeth McKinlay. |
