William Rows (pronounced Rouse) was a farmer in St. Vincent Township, Grey County. In the 1901 census, his family was located at Lot 33, Concession 10. There were a couple other Rows families also listed in the same census. In 1901, William's birthdate was provided as July 20, 1859. His religious denomination was Church of Disciples. His wife Susan was 45, and her birthdate was June 11, 1855. Their children were: Della M. Rows (b. June 11, 1880, age 20), Joseph C. Rows (b. April 27, 1885, age 15), Alice Rows (b. July 25, 1888, age 12), William A. Rows (b. Nov. 30, 1890, age 10), and Agnes Rows (b. July 26, 1895, age 5). The family had a teacher boarding with them, Mr. Roland Patterson (b. Jan. 21, 1883). On Oct. 7, 1914, their son William Albert Rows married Elizabeth Arena Jolley. 1999.019.001 is a photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Arena Rows (early 20th-century) in the Grey Roots archives.
