Alma Bell Johnson was born in Sydenham Township, and she was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson of Balaclava. When she was only thirteen years of age, she became the church organist at the Silcote United Church, and served in this capacity for 23 years, before she resigned the position. She married Thomas Stott on June 21, 1945 at the Woodford United Church, and they farmed at Silcote. Her husband was born in North Keppel, Grey County on May 9, 1900. He was one of the sons of James Stott and Isabella Stott (nee Hunter). He had sailed for a few years, and also worked for a time out west in Saskatchewan, before he returned to the Silcote district, and married Alma. Tom Stott passed away in May, 1956, and his address at that time was RR#2 Woodford. Alma later reisded at RR#1 Bognor in Sydenham, and retired to Owen Sound in her later years. She passed away in 1991. They are buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Owen Sound. |
