A few of the industries in Meaford's history are: Mr. Mitchell made fanning mills prior to 1867. There is an example at Grey Roots Museum. Charles Barber and the Barber Turbine (water turbine) was an important industry for updating water-powered mills with cast iron water turbines. Steel Floor Mats (Mr. Farrar) see the Souvenir Number of the Meaford Monitor for an illustration of one of the metal mats. Early 20th-c The Seaman, Kent Co. Limited was a very important hardwood flooring manufacturer, that made "Beaver Brand Hardwood Flooring". In 1937, Stanley Knight purchased its former building and established Stanley Knight Limited, which by 1964 was shipping its flooring products to various areas in North America, Great Britain, and Europe. There was a cannery business. Gilchrist Furniture Company W. A. Moore Mantel Works Wheelbarrows were manufactured for railroad use. The Meaford Wheelbarrow Company. Drag scrapers were manufactured in Meaford. Globe Mills employees made blankets in the 20th-century. Richardson Boat Works (Cliff Richardson), was established in 1940 D. L. Watson was the Proprietor of "Beaver Valley Apiaries" at Meaford (there is one of his honey tins in the Grey Roots collection). Circa 1947?
