Notes |
J. & G. Meakin (Ltd.), had the Eagle Pottery and Eastwood Works at Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries from 1851- 2000. They made earthenwares and ironstone china wares. There is a Wikipedia entry for the company, and on-line images of the various transfer-printed marks used by the company. There was an older version of the Royal Arms printed pre-1890. The use of the word "England" in the marks also post-dates 1890. "In the 19th century, J. & G. Meakin was known for the vast quantities of cheap ironstone china it produced for the domestic English market and for export to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States." (Wikipedia) |
