Notes |
William Taylor's second wife was Clara Taylor (nee Clara Thomson, b. Dec. 1870). They were married on March 11, 1908 at Toronto. She died on Sept. 26, 1956. Clara's husband had been long-involved in a bottling industry in Owen Sound, that was known as the Taylor & Pringle Co. Limited. Mr. John Corbet Pringle had passed away on Sept. 18, 1911 (the firm's name continued for a while after that, and was still known as Taylor & Pringle during the first part of the First World War). William Taylor & his son Christopher Taylor and the family started a new firm that bottled carbonated beverages. It was called "William Taylor & Son Limited", and it started on April 19, 1917. During the First World War, many young men were away from town, so the workforce of the bottling company was mostly women. The carbonated beverages also needed a lot of sugar. The company was also a long-time licensed bottler of Coca-Cola. On May 22, 1925, Christopher Taylor, who was then the Manager of the company, passed away. His father William Taylor, had passed away earlier in the year, on January 12, 1925. The widowed Clara became the Manager of the Wm. Taylor & Son Limited pop works, assisted by her son Humphrey. After she passed away in 1956, her son Humphrey became the Manager, and he was Manager until 1971. |
